Step 1 Choose a camera:

Step 2 Select unit of length: Feet (ft) Meters (m)

Step 3 Enter the following three properties:

A

Distance to Object: ft

B

Enter one object dimension:

Object width: ft

Object height: ft

C

Number of pixels in: Pixel (px) Percentage (%)

Number of pixels desired on object: px

Note: Use 2 pixels for Detection, 4 pixels for Recognition, 8 pixels for Identification (minimum)

Step 4 Click "Calculate" to get the approximate focal length result:
